The Destruction

Jerusalem lies in ruin beneath a smoke-filled sky, its buildings broken, streets emptied, and wild jackals roaming through the abandoned city. The scene evokes the biblical devastation of the holy city after covenant rebellion, when homes, walls, and sacred places were left desolate. Rising smoke and fractured stones emphasize judgment, loss, and the sorrow remembered in the prophets and in Lamentations. The prowling animals visually echo prophetic language describing Jerusalem as a heap of ruins and a haunt for jackals. This artwork serves well for teaching on the fall of Jerusalem, prophetic warning, exile, repentance, and the grief of a people separated from the place of worship.
