Samson's End

Samson stands between the great pillars of the Philistine temple, his arms stretched wide as cracked stone gives way under his final act of strength. Broken chains hang from his wrists, the crowd gathers above and below, and the temple structure begins to collapse around the enemies who mocked him. The scene depicts the closing moment of Samson’s life from Judges 16, when the blinded judge of Israel prayed for strength one last time and pushed against the central supports of the house of Dagon. His death becomes both judgment against the Philistines and a solemn reminder that God’s calling cannot be treated lightly. The artwork is suited for teaching on Samson, repentance, divine strength, consequences, and God’s deliverance of Israel through an imperfect servant.
